ARCH 3591

Introduction to the use of the computer to assist in the production of 2D architectural animations, composite renderings, 3D animated models, time lapse studies, and other architectural design tools. This course involves the use of the computer, methods of architectural rendering and animation, and the drawing, and storage of computer animations with different devices.

Project 1: Ronchamp Model and Rendering Presentation

In this exercise students construct a digital presentation that focuses on the interior and exterior environment of a famous existing work of architecture, Le Corbusier’s Chapel at Ronchamp. Students will create a digital model with lighting and materials to create photorealistic renderings and presentations layouts.

Project 2: Animation of Building System

In this assignment students will develop and document an innovative building envelope and structural system. They will then develop a digital model with lighting and materials. The final project is to generate an animation that clearly illustrates the use of the system.
